Level 4 DevOps Engineer

Level 4 DevOps Engineer

The EPA is designed to enable you to demonstrate that you are fully conversant in the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected at this level. It is also designed to provide Assessors with a holistic view and allow them to assess to what extent you meet or exceed the apprenticeship standard. You can find the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education assessment plan here.

End Point Assessment

Teaching

Having completed a minimum of 12 months on programme training, the apprentice will undertake a professional discussion, will develop a piece of code and carry out a practical assessment based on their post-gateway work-based project.

  • 01. Application

Once the Employer has decided to use the Academy4PM for the EPA of their learner, the Employer will be required to complete and submit the Academy4PM EPA Application Form which activates the EPA process and initiates EPA for the Apprentice.

  • 02. Submission

The EPA requires the submission of a work-based project (agreed at gateway) and piece of code by the Apprentice to the Academy4PM between 1 week and 1 month prior to the EPA date in electronic form.

  • 03. Review

The assessor panel, once selected and any identified conflicts of interest have been resolved, will review the work based project during this period. The Lead Assessor from the Academy4PM will guide the assessment process and prepare for the Professional discussion and Practical Assessment.

  • 04. Panel

The assessment will be led by an Academy4PM assessor who will act as independent assessor, who may include representatives from the employer or learning provider free of any direct conflict of interest. The assessor panel will contain members who have:

    • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the apprenticeship standard
    • The ability to contextualise the relevant work-based project(s)
    • Current, relevant occupational knowledge and expertise, which has been gained through “hands on” experience in the profession within the last 5 years.

The Academy4PM assessor will have the final decision on grading.

  • 05. Assessment

The EPA will assess the full range of knowledge, skills and behaviours listed in the published Standard utilising the following:

    • Project and Practical Assessment, lasting a maximum of 3 hours
    • Professional Discussion, lasting 60 minutes

The above is an opportunity for you to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and behaviours required in your day-to-day work.

Academy4Digital End Point Assessment Process

Final Outcome

Once the lead Assessor has concluded the Apprentices Project and Practical Assessment, the Assessor Panel will review and finalise their marks and provide the Academy4PM with an overall grading recommendation. Assessment Method 1 (Project and Practical Assessment) is weighted more than Assessment Method 2 (Professional discussion).

All EPA methods must be passed for the EPA to be passed overall. Apprentices must gain a pass in both methods to gain a pass overall Apprentices must gain a distinction in both assessment methods to gain a Distinction. Apprentices must gain a pass in the professional discussion and a distinction in the Project and Practical Assessment to gain a Merit.

Re-Assessment

If the Apprentice does not achieve initial EPA, detailed feedback on Learning Areas for improvement will be provided to the Apprentice (via the Employer) with the end result. Apprentices should have a supportive action plan to prepare for the re-sit or a re-take. An apprentice who fails an assessment method, and therefore the EPA in the first instance, will be required to re-sit or re-take any failed assessment methods only. The same project/code may be used in the event this method is failed. Any assessment method re-sit or re-take must be taken during the typical EPA period.
